I'm Millie Rey.
I consider myself a "radical" writing instructor because I understand something fundamental about writing: It requires persistence to develop ideas, commitment to yourself (the writer), and revision to help readers understand. At Write to Do, we promote your persistence and prioritize YOUR ideas. We encourage you to respect your ideas even when you doubt them. At the same time, we review your writing and provide clear guidance on how you might revise it. You get to decide what revisions make the most sense, given who your readers are. That's "radical" when most writing instruction focuses on rules, being "correct," or "good" writing. We reject discussions about "good" or "bad" writing because writing is about meeting the needs of readers and revision will get you there.
The principles we teach create the foundation of our specific, words-on-the-page approach while our skillful and empathic teaching supports the whole person.
